American multinational technology company Amazon.com, Inc. has filed a patent which aims to research cryptography-focused algorithm Proof-of-Stake (PoS).

The patent also describes cryptographic technology called "Merkle tree" which is titled as a solution to a proof-of-work challenge. According to the tech giant, the exploration of PoS algorithm in combination with a Merkle tree may reduce the amount of DDoS and DoS attacks.

"Requiring a valid proof-of-work may mitigate a DOS or DDOS attack by causing the participants of the DOS or DDOS attack to generate a valid proof-of-work solution, which may require the use of computational resources on the attacking systems and dramatically reduce the rate at which entities participating in the attack may send requests," notes the patent.

Earlier this year, Blockchain-based ecosystem VeChain (VET) announced the launch of an integrated blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) solution into Amazon Web Services (AWS).
