Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at Plenary Session during the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum said that regulation of cryptocurrency is no longer relevant since "the popularity of crypto has decreased," Fontanka reports.
Opening the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum in 2019, the Prime Minister recalled that the matter of crypto regulation was widely discussed at the last forum. Later Medvedev spoke regarding the need to enshrine at least basic concepts in civil legislation and transform cryptocurrency into the language of the law.
However, according to the Russian Prime Minister, digital money still has a chance to rise.
Previously, the Head of the United Russia faction, Sergey Neverov, said that it’s important for Russia to consider the bill of digital financial assets regulation on the second reading of the spring session, which passed the first reading and the adoption of which was already overdue.
