Bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) price has dropped to around $7,000 today after breaking the $7,500 level during this weekend. At press time, the main cryptocurrency by market capitalization is trading at $7,025.6 (-5.01%), about $500 below the $7,500 mark.

The rest of major altcoins registered significant gains during the weekend boosted by Bitcoin. However, the market seems to have started the week with a slight fall. For example, Ethereum (ETH/USD), the second largest crypto by market cap according to CoinMarketCap's classification, has lost 5.01% of its value over the last 24 hours and is currently trading at 187.41 dollars.

XRP (XRP/USD), Ripple's token, is also following Bitcoin's bearish trend and has dropped by 2.24% to 0.31 dollars.

It must be noted that to press time, just 3 cryptos among the top 20 are posting gains: Binance Coin (+7.42%), Dash (+2.23%) and Cosmos (+0.55%).
