According to a press release shared yesterday, Longenesis and biotechnology company Insilico Medicine have signed a cooperation agreement with South Korean hospital Gil Medical Center in order to work together in the development of a medical data management system based on blockchain, crypto's underlying technology.

As per the collaboration agreement, the participants want to develop a platform based on Bitfury's Exonum blockchain aimed to improve the efficiency of data collection as well as of research processes and to ensure that patients' consents are managed with total transparency.

Longenesis will provide a secure ecosystem so that the hospital can upload, store and manage private data, enabling it this way to control and access it. In addition, this new platform has also been conceived to comply with the current legislation.

Why it is important

  • Another major hospital in Seoul revealed in mid-March its plans to create a blockchain platform to improve its medical services. Also, South Korean Myongji Hospital said in November last year it planned to develop another blockchain platform.
