The Dolder Grand, a five-star hotel in Switzerland, has just announced it will start accepting Bitcoin payments next month, the hotel's technology partner, Inacta AG, announced yesterday.

From May 1, the hotel guests will be able to use the largest cryptocurrency by market cap to pay for their accommodation, food, beverages and spa treatments.

In order to do so, they will have to use Inapay, Inacta AG's mobile app, which will automatically convert all payments made with Bitcoin into the local currency (Swiss francs) or euros.

Therefore, the hotel will not work with cryptos directly, since its technology partner will handle the conversion from Bitcoin into fiat money.

The financial director of the hotel, André Meier, has said that the hotel is always implementing new technologies, and it has decided to integrate Bitcoin payments because he truly believes that cryptocurrencies are here to stay.

Why it is important

  • Bitcoin acceptance is growing worldwide. This is just an example of a "little" company. However, more and more international institutions are starting to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment. Even though some studies show that users are still afraid of paying with this cryptocurrency, the truth is that it is pretty obvious that the number of companies accepting Bitcoin payments is increasing.
