Twitch, the video streaming service owned by Amazon, has stopped accepting cryptocurrencies as a means of payment, a Reddit user reported last Saturday.

Twitch users could pay their subscriptions with Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash, at least until now. This was possible thanks to the payments processing service BitPay. However, according to a Reddit user, the service "has been quietly removing this payment option during the last few weeks in all countries."

The service has not share any official statement about this decision, it has simply removed the option.

Other network users say that another well-known service, Streamlabs, has also stopped accepting crypto payments. It seems that this option has not been included in the new software version of the service.

Some Reddit users have even said that they did not know Twitch allowed crypto payments.

Even though it is not clear why Twitch has decided to remove this payment option, some people argue it could be due to the low transaction volume. Twitch was acquired by Amazon in 2014 by $970 million.

The possibility of paying with cryptocurrencies in Twitch and Streamlabs was launched in mid 2018.
