According to a letter sent by the exchange to its investors, CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE) does not plan to add new Bitcoin futures contracts this month.

The platform said it must re-evaluate its approach with respect to how it plans to continue to offer digital asset derivatives for trading:

"CFE is not adding a Cboe Bitcoin (USD) (“XBT”) futures contract for trading in March 2019. CFE is assessing its approach with respect to how it plans to continue to offer digital asset derivatives for trading. While it considers its next steps, CFE does not currently intend to list additional XBT futures contracts for trading."

At the same time, CBOE said that currently listed futures remain available. This means that the last contract that was launched, XBTM19, will expire in June this year.

Bitcoin futures trading was launched on the Chicago Stock Exchange (CBOE) in December 2017.

TradeBlock researchers announced in February that investor's interest in CME and CBOE Bitcoin futures is gradually declining.
