The US coffee chain Starbucks plans to allow its customers to pay for their orders with cryptocurrencies - which will be instantly converted into fiat money through the Bakkt platform, The Block reported yesterday based on the information provided by several sources.

Initially, the possibility to pay with cryptocurrencies will only be available to US customers. It must be noted that no cryptocurrencies will appear in the company's reports since the crypto will be instantly transferred into fiat.

Starbucks is currently working on the development of the application that will make crypto-based payments possible.

According to sources, Starbucks has not invested in Bakkt; its cooperation is based on "mutually beneficial terms".

The media already reported this news last year. However, the company announced that its cafés would not accept cryptocurrencies directly, but would allow their users to convert bitcoin to fiat through a special app.
