The France-based retail giant Carrefour is applying blockchain technology for tracking milk, the company reported in a press released published last Friday.

The company, that is already using blockchain for tracking tomatoes, eggs and oranges, among others, is gradually extending its use to other products.

Now, the next product that will enjoy the benefits of the DLT is its Carrefour Quality Line (CQL) micro-filtered full-fat milk. Thanks to blockchain, consumers will have access to complete information about the supply chain. For instance, they will be able to know where the farms are and when the milk was collected and packaged.

The company announced in October last year the adoption of blockchain technology to track fresh products.
