The San Francisco-based cryptocurrency exchange has offered a $100,000 reward for any tips that could help recover QuadrigaCX's missing funds, Kraken announced on a blog post shared yesterday.

With this announce, Kraken is trying to recover QuadrigaCX's funds, a cryptocurrency exchange that has attracted the attention of the crypto community after losing access to its cold wallets due to the sudden death of its CEO.

All tips provided by the users will be shared with the authorities, while the reward will be paid either in fiat or crypto. However, it must be noted that the exchange may end this reward program at any point in time and that Kraken will decide which tips warrant a reward.

Why it is important

  • The Canadian cryptocurrency exchange QuadrigaCX lost $109 million after its founder, Gerald Cotten, died during a trip leaving the exchange without access to its cold wallets, since he had sole control of the private keys to access those funds.
