The London-based online platform Aave has announced it is launching a new payment service in the UK to allow its users to send or spend cryptocurrencies — which may support the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies.

According to the company, its users will be able to convert their crypto-assets and to transfer them in the form of fiat currency to a fiat-based bank account. They will be able to pay with cryptocurrencies where regular bank transfers are accepted.

We are talking about situations such as the payment of utility bills, the payment of employee salaries or the the payment of income taxes, among other — and about simple cases like sending money to family and friends.

“This new application eliminates the obstacles of using crypto in our everyday lives, [...] [it] builds a bridge for crypto to cross over into mainstream use.” — Commented Stani Kulechov, the company’s CEO.

The platform currently supports 12 cryptocurrencies — namely Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Ripple — and transfers can be carried out in six fiat currencies: Euro, US dollar, British pound, Swiss franc, Australian dollar and Indian rupee.
