And so the rumors are confirmed.

Samsung released the much anticipated Galaxy S10 series yesterday and uncovered its main features. Among them: the new smartphone is built with Samsung’s Knox security system, designed to store blockchain-based private keys. To store cryptocurrencies.

“The Galaxy S10 is built with defense-grade Samsung Knox, as well as secure storage backed by hardware, which houses your private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services,” — The company shared in its announcement.

The South Korean electronics giant security software was created to secure relevant data like passwords and private keys. According to its white paper Knox is already broadly used in a variety of industries — like finance and healthcare — and by the public sector.

Although innovative, Samsung is not the first smartphone manufacturer to enter the blockchain ecosystem. It follows HTC and the launching of Exodus, its first crypto-focused smartphone — and Sirin Labs and its Finney phone.

Samsung’s flagship series will be available online and in stores already on March 8.
