One of the leading creators of privacy-focused cryptocurrency, Riccardo Spagni, states monero (XMR) was created on the basis of the privacy ideology as a currency, but not as an investment, Financial Magnates states.
Spagni calls himself "a big advocate for personal privacy" since according to his opinion, privacy should be a basic human right.
"I think that it should be a basic human right. The way all our data has just sort of been splurged online through hacks and compromises and malware and sometimes our own stupidity, we’re in a situation where privacy-preserving projects are a necessity," Spagni says.
In fact, monero is one of the few cryptos whose transactions ware almost entirely hidden. Moreover, the author and creator of the ring signature algorithm that is used in monero, Professor Joseph Liu, received the prestigious Australian award — the "ICT Researcher of the Year."
However, not all in the industry are satisfied with such a hidden player as monero. For instance, earlier, the Financial Services Agency (FSA) of Japan ordered local exchanges to delist such anonymity-focused cryptos as monero, dash (DASH), augur (REP) and zcash (ZEC).
