We have reported this before: the tech industry is widely male-dominated and the crypto and blockchain sectors are no exception — and a recent research reinforced this perception, adding that also crypto-centered events are considerably composed by men.
The study — carried out by Bizzabo, an event software platform — analyzed 100 conferences, related with the crypto ecosystem, that took place in 15 countries. It concluded that more than three quarters (79 percent) of the registrants were male.
That comprises a large gender gap.
“Like the tech industry, at large, there is a lack of gender diversity in the overall virtual currencies space. We’re seeing that reflected in the attendance for these events, as well as the speakers. [...] That has to change.” — Noted Alon Alroy, Bizzabo’s Chief of Customer Success, on another report conducted by the company.
In fact, Bizzabo concluded in another study carried out in November 2018 — focused on gender diversity and inclusion — that 70 percent of speakers in events around a myriad of sectors, namely the crypto ecosystem, were also male.
