Decentralized applications, or dApps, were used by around 1.5 million people throughout 2018, according to data and insights from Dapp.com regarding four mainstream blockchains: Ethereum, EOS, TRON and STEEM.
Despite the wide crypto bear market felt last year the dApp market flourished — and these four blockchains represented the ecosystem with the most active users.
During 2018 the most dominant dApp category was gaming, and it was followed by betting. However, simultaneously, decentralized exchanges proved very successful use cases of dApps, emerging as the category with most users.
And not surprisingly the Ethereum blockchain dominated the market regarding the number of dApps and dApp users — namely because of its pioneer advantage. Of the 1.5 million users of dApps across platforms, about 800,000 were on Ethereum.
