The NYC Economic Development Corporation (EDC), a non-profit looking to support economic growth within the city, has opened the “Blockchain Education Center” yesterday. Its main goal? To increase awareness around the technology and to test use cases.

The Center, based in central Manhattan, will offer coding classes and will host lectures for both developers already working in the sector and the general public.

“[Blockchain] is a nascent technology, so there’s bound to be uncertainty around this evolution from year to year. While we don’t know what the future holds, we want to make sure we have a seat at the table shaping it.” — Ana Arino, EDC’s Chief Strategy Officer.

The Center results of a partnership between the non-profit, the venture capital fund Future\Perfect Ventures and the trade organization Global Blockchain Business Council — and will continue to look for new partnerships, namely to raise funds to operate.
