The Worth magazine has released its “100 most powerful men and women in global finance” list for 2018 — and Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin’s creator (or creators), figures among bankers, businesspeople and world leaders. However, Nakamoto’s true identity is unknown.
Satoshi Nakamoto can be a man, a woman or a group of people. Can be a common citizen, a governmental entity or a private organization. Can be Japanese — as its pseudonym suggests —, American, European or from anywhere in the world.
All that is known is that Nakamoto was responsible for writing the code underpinning Bitcoin, the world’s largest and most-known cryptocurrency, creating the foundation for all the developments that have followed in the sector since Bitcoin’s establishment in 2009.
And that’s, indeed, quite something.
Whoever Nakamoto is, the world has already changed due to his (or her, or their) work — and chances are we have not seen everything yet.
