On January 3, 2009, exactly ten years ago, a person or a group of people under the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto launched the main network of the first cryptocurrency, by mining the genesis block with 50 bitcoins (BTC).
The launch of the network was preceded by the publication of white paper (October 31, 2008). The first bitcoin transaction took place on January 12, 2009. Back then, Satoshi Nakamoto sent 10 BTC to Harold Finney.
The turning point in the history of bitcoin was the year 2015 when the European Court classified cryptocurrency transaction to payment transactions with fiat money.
Later, in 2016, Japan at the legislative level granted bitcoin with the status of a means of payment, and in the United States, it began to speak of it as a decentralized virtual currency.
The peak of bitcoin popularity hit in 2017 when its value rose to a maximum of $20,000. However, since the beginning of 2018, bitcoin has fallen in price by 73%.
Today, the rate of the first cryptocurrency is at $ 3,900, and its capitalization is about $ 68 billion.
