One of the most popular p2p communications protocol and platform in the world, BitTorrent has announced the issue of its own cryptocurrency, called BitTorrent (BTT), according to the official announcement.
"By providing users with the ability to use BTT tokens for faster downloads, the company aims to accelerate the overall speed of torrents," the announcement states.
Founder and CEO of TRON, Justin Sun, says BitTorrent token will be the first in "a series of steps to support a decentralized internet."
The token will be based on TRC-10 architecture and will be exclusively available to non-U.S. accounts on Binance Launchpad.
Changpeng Zhao, the Founder and CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, says the main aim of Binance Launchpad is "to help entrepreneurs launch their best projects and bring more use cases to the industry."
Earlier, TRON acquired BitTorrent Inc. for approximately $140 million.
