… But only 0.5% are active
The number of unique Ethereum wallet addresses has exceeded 50 million for the first time this last Saturday, December 15, according to data from Etherscan.io.
The Ethereum network experienced a daily increase of 168,506 unique crypto wallets. However, despite this growth — that follows a steady increasing trend this year as can be seen in the chart above — the number of active Ethereum addresses is rapidly decreasing.
In fact, the Ethereum active addresses have been declining steadily throughout 2018.
Its number fell by around 70 percent over the year — to 328,400 addresses recorded on December 16. According to Coinmetrics, active addresses stand for “unique sending or receiving addresses carrying out transactions on a certain day”.
