Iranian officials believe blockchain technology may be the salvation of current Iran’s economy, according to Tehran Times.
The head of management development department of the vice presidency for science and technology, Alireza Daliri claims the technology may help Iran “with empowering the infrastructure of the blockchain technology.”
“We should coordinate with other countries in the world in terms of new technologies and the blockchain is one of the issues,” Daliri said.
He also mentioned that nowadays there are almost 140 countries using blockchain tech.
Although Iran acknowledges the blockchain superior, the authorities of Iran recognized cryptocurrency mining as a separate industry. However, it seems Iran isn’t against crypto since the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) was planning to revoke its blanket ban on cryptocurrencies.
Earlier, the European Parliament urged to accelerate the adoption of blockchain technology in the field of trade, as well as business. The resolution, entitled “Blockchain: a forward-looking trade policy,” emphasizes that blockchain can improve the transparency of logistics, simplify trade processes, improve monitoring of tax evasion, and improve the security of personal data.
