“Today we are excited to welcome Uber to Fold lineup! You can now use Bitcoin to purchase your next Uber ride. Simply select the dollar amount, send your Bitcoin, and then ride safely to your next event.” — Told the Fold team in a blog post.
The app works by converting Bitcoin into a gift card balance within Fold’s wallet — that can be redeemed through code scanning in stores and services. It is now available for rides with Uber or to order Uber Eats. The balance is transferable across the Uber and Uber Eats apps.
Fold, which is currently only available in the US, also enables Bitcoin spending in stores like Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts.
