Israel-based research company Check Point Software Technologies has conducted the research according to which, a new cryptomalware KingMiner which is mine cryptocurrency monero (XMR) has ability of self-developing.
According to the research, since its first release, the KingMiner malware has been developed and deployed in two new versions.
“The malware continuously adds new features and bypass methods to avoid emulation. Mainly, it manipulates the needed files and creates a dependency which is critical during emulation,” the report states.
Check Point Software Technologies determined that KingMiner as a rule targets Microsoft Servers and uses 100% of CPU.
The research also states the miner uses a private cryptocurrency mining pool to prevent any monitoring of its activity.
“The pool’s API is turned off, and the wallet in question is not used in any public mining pools. We have not yet determined which domains are used, as this is also private,” the report highlights.
