The French company Auchan enters the Blockchain market to improve customer service and create the possibility of transparent tracking of product deliveries. The company creates a distributed register platform (DLT) that will allow customers to keep track of the products they buy.
Auchan has already successfully tested the system in Vietnam. Now the platform will be integrated in some specific regions of France. Customers will be able to use the application for smartphones and receive information about products by scanning their QR codes.
Thus, users will be able to obtain detailed information about the manufacturer and the supply of products. At the moment, they can track only organic carrots. The system will allow tracking potatoes by December, and chicken by February. In the future, Auchan plans to introduce its system in Spain, Italy, and Senegal.
Auchan operates a Blockchain network known as FoodChain. The system is based on Hyperledger Fabric and has its own token, known as CAL. However, Auchan will use only Blockchain technology, not a token.
There are already several companies that are starting to use Blockchain technology to track products. JD.com, a Chinese e-commerce company, has decided to implement a blockchain-based tracking system for products. Carrefour also launched a Blockchain system that helps users get information about specific products.
