One of the world's biggest industrial powerhouses Siemens alongside with Power Generation Services have joined the Energy Web Foundation (EWF) to promote the growth of the blockchain tech the official press release states.

Siemens is a German pudding-stone company with HQ in Berlin and Munich. It’s also one of the largest industrial manufacturing corporations in Europe.

According to the press release, the main goal of EWF is to build the leading blockchain-related alliance and speed up the commercial adoption of blockchain tech in the energy sector.

German manufacturer describes blockchain as a tech that enables "a new business models of energy and flexibility trading between consumers, prosumers, producers and network operators, taking into account user preferences and network restrictions."

In it’s statement, Siemens also highlights that it’s not the first time, when the corporation is using the brand-new technologies in order to help its clients to develop new forms of energy or offer solutions & products for optimized control of energy generation.

Earlier, Siemens launched the pilot version of the ethereum-based pro­ject “Brook­lyn mi­cro­grid” that is aimed to cre­ate local en­ergy mar­ket­places using data plat­forms.
