NASA to Probe SpaceX after Musk Smokes Pot

The space agency NASA has decided to conduct a comprehensive safety review of companies SpaceX and Boeing. Both companies are developing spacecraft for delivering American astronauts to the International Space Station.

The reason for the examination was the smoking of marijuana by SpaceX head Elon Mask live during an interview on the popular American Internet show PowerfulJRE in September. It's reported by The Washington Post.

The publication notes that in California where the interview took place, smoking marijuana is legal. Nevertheless, Mask's behavior has caused serious questions at the highest levels of management at NASA and prompted the agency to become more closely acquainted with the culture that had developed within the company.

The head of the agency, Jim Bridenstine, explained that the test was especially necessary due to the fact that SpaceX and Boeing companies were to deliver astronauts to orbit. "We need to show the American public that when we put an astronaut on a rocket, they’ll be safe,” Bridenstine said.

It's noted that NASA experts will begin checking next year, which is expected to take several months. Representatives of the supervisory team will check “everything and anything that could impact safety.”
