U.S. federal government cabinet department, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published a solicitation call for proposals for companies that can improve government processes using the blockchain, according to the announcement posted on the DHS website.
It was also stated that research proposals that are approved for Phase I and are limited to six months will be awarded $100,000, while projects that pass to Phase II are eligible for 24-month projects with up to $750,000 available in awards.
It is considered that the DHS believes that blockchain and distributed ledgers have the potential to improve government processes and positively impact U.S. citizens by improving such areas as “storage and management”, “issuance and verification” and “Ease-of-Use of Government Credentials”.
