According to the post published on the official website of Professor Joseph Liu, who’s the author and creator of the ring signature algorithm that is used in monero (XMR), he has received the prestigious Australian award — the “ICT Researcher of the Year.”

The ring signature algorithm is a cryptographic method of digital signature, that allows to verify authenticity of anything or anyone without disclosing confidential information at the same time.

Liu said in the statement:

“I am honoured to receive the ‘ICT Researcher of the Year’ Award (winner) given by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the largest professional body in Australia representing the ICT sector.”

Earlier, the Monero’s main network decreased the average transaction fee due to the implementation of the Bulletproofs protocol.
