Malaysian Member of Parliament urged country’s government to develop and implement appropriate cryptocurrency regulation before adopting government based Harapan Coin (HRP), according to the report of local news media the Star.
Harapan Coin is considered to be the world’s first political fundraising platform deploying cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Founded by a group of patriotic and concerned Malaysian citizens the project aims to raise money for the opposition party of Malaysia and has the potential to become an official currency.
As it was stated by the Star, the paperwork and presentation of HRP will soon be handed over to BNM and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad but the process itself can require a considerable amount of time.
Earlier it was reported that Malaysia has begun work on a regulatory structure for digital currencies such as bitcoin and announced that the final version of regulations will be introduced in 2018.
