According to the recent official announcement, Myongji Hospital, which is considered to be one the South Korea’s largest hospitals has concluded partnership with a Korean tech company in order to develop a medical services platform on blockchain technology.

Myongji Hospital has reportedly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Korean tech firm BICube.

The announcement states that the aim of partnership is to build a hybrid cloud platform that will combine a public and private cloud with the help of blockchain technology.

It’s planned that the platform goes live by 2019.

Earlier, the government of South Korea shared its plans to in­vest more than $880 mil­lion in ac­cel­er­at­ing the de­vel­op­ment of in­no­v­a­tive tech­nolo­gies next year. In­vest­ments will be di­rected to blockchain tech­nol­ogy, ar­ti­fi­cial in­tel­li­gence (AI) and Big Data.
