Great Lakes Science Center, a large museum and educational facility in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, announced that it is going to begin accepting bitcoins as a payment method from November 13, according to the public statement of center’s CEO Kirsten Ellenbogen.

“There is a lot of excitement around the conference. Accepting bitcoin is just a small part of the momentum to grow a blockchain ecosystem in Cleveland,” said Kirsten Ellenbogen

Thus, the institution decided to begin accepting cryptocurrency in order to facilitate the growth of the local blockchain ecosystem.

According to the website SpendBitcoins.com, two American museums known to accept the cryptocurrency today are Museum of the Coastal Bend in Texas and St. Petersburg Museum of History in Florida. Great Lakes Science Center will become the third museum in this list.
