Puman Middle School in Hunan province had been mining cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH) not only on working days, but on the holidays as well, HK01 reports.
It states that two principals of the school, Lei Hua, and vice principal, Wang Zhipeng, had installed nine computers (worth approximately $7,000 in total) at school in order to get ETH.
The report also highlights that the school lost almost $2,200 in electricity worth, for which the principal was fired not only from the school, but from the Communist Party as well.
Earlier in November, People's Bank of China (PBoC) expanded sanctions against the crypto. The central bank intends to put an end to airdrops, free distribution of crypto tokens.
