The Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Wissanu Krea-ngam suggested that governments should strengthen regulations on cryptocurrencies, according to the report of local news daily the Bangkok Post.
As it was stated, Krea-ngam claimed that new measures must be introduced both domestically and internationally in order to keep up with new tactics and threats to consumer security. Prime Minister also noted that the current regulation allows criminals to use cryptocurrencies for funding terrorism or money laundering.
Thailand is actively participate in creating cryptocurrency regulation. Thus, earlier it was reported that Thailand’s Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced new regulations on the ICO’s hold in the country.
