The event is hosted by Block.one, the publisher of the EOSIO Blockchain protocol. The president of Block.one, Rob Hudason, commented on the upcoming event:

“EOSIO is a global project that is engaging the best developers from around the world, so we’re delighted to be bringing this series to the world’s most dynamic tech hub. San Francisco lies at the heart of the tech universe and it’s clear to Block.one that the city’s best and brightest are seizing the power of EOSIO to propel blockchain toward mainstream adoption. We’re seeing a wave of innovation and creativity and it’ll be exciting to see that up close at this event.”

More than 400 programmers and developers will participate in the hackathon, who will compete in solving problems when developing an application using the EOSIO code base. The winning team will receive a prize of $100,000.
