American business magnate Warren Buffett invested nearly $600 million in two fintech firms focused on emerging markets: Brazilian payment processor StoneCo Ltd. and the parent company of India’s largest mobile payment service, Paytm.

Investments were made by Warren Buffett’s multinational investment conglomerate, Berkshire Hathaway, according to the report of The Wall Street Journal.

Earlier Buffet claimed that he wouldn't invest in tech startups and cutting-edge technologies. The current investments into fintech companies represent an uncharacteristic deviation from Berkshire’s traditional investment selections making it even closer to blockchain and cryptocurrency investments.
