The FBI launched a criminal investigation against Tesla, a company owned by Elon Musk, according to a published report. The case concerns whether Tesla misstated production figures about the electric car maker's Model 3 sedan and misled investors about its business operations.
The Wall Street Journal reported that FBI agents are contacting former Tesla employees to interview them. It was also stated that at the beginning of 2017, the company could provide buyers with false data about the schedule and production volume of its sedans.
According to the report, the investigation became more intense after Musk completed the trial with the US Securities and Exchange Commission related to his tweet about plans to make Tesla a private company.
