According to Columbia Journalism Review, a group of journalists and academics came together at the Brown Institute and the Tow Center for Digital Journalism for a discussion about how blockchain may be used in journalism industry.

The article states that the participants of the meeting “were generally optimistic about blockchain’s potential to improve public trust in journalism.”

After a while, the Tow Center made a statement in which described its intention to test blockchain:

"The Tow Center for Digital Journalism explores the ways in which technology is changing journalism, its practice and its consumption – particularly as consumers of news seek ways to judge the reliability, standards and credibility of information."

At the end, the meeting said that the future of blockchain journalism depends on the certainty that the control over technology won't fall into hands of the few.

Previously in October, Forbes announced partnership with Ethereum-based platform Civil to start experimenting with publishing to the Civil blockchain.
