According to the official press release of Air Canada, Canada’s largest airline is going to be involved in the development of blockchain-based travel distribution platform. The company entered into a partnership with blockchain startup Winding Tree in order to deliver such product.
Thus, Air Canada has signed a letter of intent to participate in the development of decentralized open-source travel distribution platform that is created by Winding Tree. The main aim of such collaboration is to improve the distribution and sale of air travel products and provide access to inventory directly from suppliers.
"As Canada's largest airline, and a global leader in innovative airline distribution solutions, Air Canada recognizes the importance of leveraging this next generation technology. We plan to integrate Air Canada's Direct Connect API with Winding Tree's public blockchain platform, giving blockchain-savvy users the ability to access our content directly from the source." said Keith Wallis, Director of Global Product Distribution for Air Canada
Winding Tree is a Swiss-based, decentralized, open-source travel distribution platform aiming to make travel cheaper for the end user while making it more profitable for suppliers.
