YouTube was inaccessible on Tuesday night, showing a server error when users tried to load the website.

However, after a while, another message by YouTube had appeared in a tweet thread, where users were offered free cryptocurrency as compensation for the inconvenience. To get free crypto, they had to follow the link and perform certain actions. The tweet’s profile even had a verification mark.

Later it turned out that the hacked profile had previously belonged to a former MMA fighter Phil Harris. As a result, at press time, all tweets with crypto airdrop by YouTube were deleted.

In September, YouTube, Wikipedia, and Twitch announced integration with Ripple in order to give users the opportunity “to gratify their content of choice.”
