According to the Bangkok Post, the Thai Ministry of Commerce has initiated feasibility studies on the use of Blockchain in the areas of copyright, agriculture and trade finance.
Pimchanok Vonkorpon, a Thai official from Thailand’s Trade Policy and Strategy Office, said the study is being conducted with the help of the British embassy in Bangkok. The government wants to test whether decentralized technologies can improve the competitiveness and credibility of the country, especially in the small business sector.
Vonkorpon also added that the Blockchain study is related to processing digital IDs, managing the IP addresses registration and smart contracts.
The Thai Bond Market Association also noted its interest in applying Blockchain. TBMA has built a new registrar service platform to enable faster issuance of bond certificates.
