According to Bloomberg, the man behind Antminer S9 and Whatsminer Yang Zuoxing is about to provide a competition for Bitmain with his own mining chips production.

Yang is known only to an inner circle as a chip designer who had left Bitmain in 2016 due to disagreement with Bitmain Co-founders Jihan Wu and Micree Zhan for a stake in the business.

Yang is certanly convinced that his company, MicroBT, will move heaven and earth to enter the market.

“Their technology is great,’’ Yang said. “But ours is too.”

In any case, Bitmain is still superior to MicroBT. It earned $743 million on $2.8 billion of sales in the first half against MicroBT with a profit of $48 million and sales of $186 million during the same period.

Yang also said in interview that he’s thinking about filing for an IPO next year.
