The Government of Dubai has launched digital state currency that is based on Pundi X technology.

According to the announcement from Pundi X, citizens and residents of UAE will get the access to make payments via emCash – Dubai's new digital state currency launched by emCredit & Pundi X.

“Our partnership will see emcredit, the UAE’s official credit bureau and a subsidiary of the government of Dubai, bring our XPOS to hundreds of its store fronts across the city to allow consumers to pay bills, school fees and for utilities using digital currency.” — said in the announcement.

Last year the Government of Dubai announced in its press release “initiative by establishing a partnership to facilitate financial transactions through contactless payment”.

Earlier it was reported that The Dubai Department of Finance (DoF) of Dubai partnered with the Smart Dubai Office (SDO) to launch a payment system based on blockchain.
