China’s Peking University offers Blockchain technology as an effective solution for managing web domain names.

On Thursday the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has published a patent application of Peking University, which states that “Internet users in Asia enjoy a significantly slower name resolution speed than users in North America.” The Shenzhen Graduate School at Peking University is exploring how a "consortium blockchain" can increase security and efficiency in managing top-level domains (TLDs).

Since the blockchain technology is sharing data in a "public and immutable way," it says, "trusted agencies and even individuals can access information on Blockchain and build a corresponding seed file database to store the mapping relations between the top-level and sub-domain name system."

Using this technology, all regions can configure domain name servers in accordance with actual needs in order to get Internet access speed, regardless of other institutions.
