According to the announcement in twitter account of one of Ethereum developer, Peter Szillagyi, the company decided to postpone the launch of Constantinople.

As it was stated by Peter, developers decided to delay the process to eliminate the vulnerability found in one of the five fork updates. The delay will also provide Ropsten test network users with the opportunity to try out other team projects such as a scaling solution called Raiden

Ethereum developer also noted that there is a possibility of hardfork which can lead to a split of blockchains so they have to be prepared for it.
