European customers will lose access to the dashboard of Bitpay cards issued by Wave Crest at the end of October. Users have been asked to export transaction data.
In January, it became known that the payment giant Visa would stop servicing prepaid cryptocurrency cards in Europe issued by WaveCrest Holdings. Because of this, users of several crypto companies were under attack. The termination of the cards’ service was then announced by three services – the American company Bitpay, the British Cryptopay, and the German Bitwala.
Wave Crest received a request from Visa to immediately close all accounts opened on prepaid debit card programs. Such cards allow users to replenish the balance in cryptocurrency and then pay in euro, British pounds, and U.S. dollars. Visa Europe explained this by a break in relations with a partner due to the company’s failure to comply with the rules of the payment system.
Also in January of this year, Bitpay announced that cardholders will not be able to use them for further payments or withdrawals. However, the platform explained that the customers can access their card dashboard for important information. Now Bitpay has warned cardholders that even accessing the dashboard will be disabled from October 31, 2018.
“We are now working to sunset Bitpay accounts related to the Wave Crest-issued Bitpay card. In 30 days, we will be turning off access to your Bitpay card dashboard. If you need to store your card’s transaction data for any purpose, please export your transaction data before your card dashboard access ends on Wednesday, 31 October 2018,” says the company's appeal to customers.
BitPay Visa debit card allows customers to download fiat currency using a bitcoin wallet. The card facilitates both internal and online transactions, as well as cash withdrawals. BitPay card is probably one of the most popular bitcoin cards in America. Users of this card note the high speed of transfers. It takes less than a minute to convert dollars to bitcoins (Bitcoin) and vice versa. Other advantages include competent technical support service and ease of application.
Many users prefer bitcoin cards to exchanges due to the lack of intermediaries in the exchange of the first cryptocurrency for fiat. Clients also note the convenience and simplicity of this tool, since the cards can be used for paying wherever Visa or MasterCard is accepted.
At the beginning of the year, when Visa left European bitcoin users without debit cards, the company put many of them in a rather awkward position. Customers complained that they were left without access to funds for a trip abroad, or, for example, that a hotel canceled their booking.
