The Italian Banking Association continue experiments with blockchain
According to the press release of the association of largest Italian banks, the first phase of a blockchain trial, which was devoted to technical procedural verification is successfully completed. The association announced the launch of the second phase of the trial.
The second phase will be focused on the adoption of distributed ledger technology (DLT) which is a consensus of replicated, shared, and synchronized digital data geographically spread across multiple sources (nodes).
The Italian Banking Association consists of such big names as Banca Mediolanum, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, Crédit Agricole, BNL BNP Paribas Group, Banca Sella, and Banca Popolare di Sondrio and others. Since june the group has been working to upload real data to the blockchain infrastructure that relies on 14 nodes, with one node for each bank.
