According to local French media Le Parisien, a French security official was arrested last week on charges of selling state secrets on the dark web. It was also stated that the intruder used bitcoins as a method of payment to remain unnoticed.

The agent from the Direction Générale de la Sécurité Intérieure (DGSI) was accused of allegedly peddling economic information and potentially falsifying administrative documents.

It remains unclear what information was sold or how much bitcoins the agent finally got. In case of being convicted, the agent will face seven years in prison and a 100,000 euro fine.
