Employees of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will tell investors about the importance of education, especially given the growing popularity of ICO and digital assets. Representatives of the agency will participate in events throughout the country as part of the World Investor Week, which will be held on October 1-7, 2018.

The World Investor Week is a global campaign conducted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). Financial regulators on six continents are united for the second year in the framework of this event. Their main goal is to teach all interested participants in the financial market the right investments, in order not to fall into the hands of scammers. Not surprisingly, this year SEC will focus on the crypto sphere because this is now one of the priorities of the department.

Representatives of the regulator will teach all the participants to do a preliminary check of the investment professionally, establish investment goals, study investment products, understand the power of complex interests and learn how to avoid fraud.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

  • The World Investor Week is an opportunity for financial regulators in many countries to jointly discuss how to intensify financial education of investors and protect their rights at the national and international level. For the first time, such an event was held a year ago, 80 countries took part in it.
  • Now, the сryptocurrencies are under the strict control of SEC. The regulator diligently removes fraudulent crypto projects from the market and fights against the scam. Thus, the agency wants to make the rapidly growing crypto market more reliable for investors.
