Users of Opera browser wallet for ethereum can now store and send collectible tokens such as CryptoKitties as Opera has now added the necessary support for the ERC-721 tokens.

The company’s blog states that the company hopes that this is just a beginning of the trend as other other services such as online games will follow the same path. According to the statement those unique items can also be soon used to unlock certain content or verify availability of services.

ERC-721 is a standard for non-tradeable tokens that can possess unique attributes, hence one such token cannot replace another one. The most well known example of such are the CryptoKitties which came out in November 2017. In just a few days it became the most popular ether-based application as users spend $12 million on it and on December 6 it even collapsed due to a network overload. Similar games have appeared since with Chinese Baidu launching the Leci Gou and later Xiaomi releasing the Jiami Tu.

Earlier Opera released a new browser version with an incorporated Opera Wallet which was integrated with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase.
