The 2018 Malta Blockchain Summit will proceed from October 31 to November 2 and will introduce the Blockchain Hackathon. With the date of the event growing ever closer the tickets are selling like hotcakes, over 5,000 people are expected to attend the summit.

A Hackathon is an event usually lasting several days where teams of programmers compete in coding and creating a product or solution in a short stretch of time.

The current theme of the event is unknown for “competitive reasons,” but we can be sure it will be something to do with blockchain technology. Over 250 teams, consisting from 4 to 8 people, have registered to the event and the victorious team will get the juicy $57,500 prize money. The winners will be picked by a panel of judges considering both “decentralized, as well as distributed solutions” and the “originality, feasibility, interoperability and benefits of their initiative.” This coding event will also give the opportunity to network with C-level delegates, mentors and industry sharks at the conference.

Confirmed speakers and guests rank some influential and well-known names such as John McAfee, the eccentric programmer and entrepreneur, and Scott Stornetta, who is one of the fathers of blockchain technology.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

  1. Such a grand event will bring together crypto enthusiasts giving them the chance to share their experience, knowledge, passions, visions, and ideas with each other. One can only guess the density of blockchain-related conversations during those three days.
  2. It is possible that the conclusions made during and after this summit could influence the world of blockchain, moving it ever forward.
